Decide whether an FPS cap is needed
First enable Apex Legends Performance Display and observe the FPS during normal play. An FPS cap is not automatically a performance boost, and EA warns that changing it can cause performance issues.
Check the PC and display
Check the monitor's supported refresh rate and the PC specifications before choosing a cap. Do not copy a high value from another player's hardware without this comparison.
Use the EA app path when applicable
Open the EA app, go to Library, find Apex Legends, select the three-dot menu on the game tile, and choose View properties.
Enter EA app advanced launch options
Under Advanced launch options, enter +fps_max followed by the frame rate you chose. For example, EA documents +fps_max 200 for a 200 FPS cap.

If it does not work
- If you cannot find the EA app's three-dot menu or Steam's Properties screen, confirm that you are viewing the installed Apex Legends entry, not a store page or a different game.
- If the cap does not behave as expected, delete only the +fps_max entry and restart the game. Do not use registry changes, config-file edits, or third-party launch-option packs as a substitute.
