What the App Does

HearTest is a personal hearing awareness tool for iPhone and iPad. It allows users to perform calibrated pure-tone hearing checks using headphones to generate personal audiograms and track hearing sensitivity over time. This app is for informational purposes only and is not a medical device or a substitute for a professional medical diagnosis.

Data We Collect from the App

We do not collect personal data.

  • On-Device Storage: All hearing test results, thresholds, classifications, and audiogram data are stored locally on your device using SwiftData.

  • iCloud Sync (Pro Feature): If you choose to enable iCloud sync, your test history is synced across your own devices via Apple’s CloudKit. This data is stored in your private iCloud container; we do not have access to it.

  • No Developer Servers: No user-generated data (such as your audiogram results or hearing trends) is ever transmitted to or stored on any server controlled by the developer.

  • Export/Sharing: When you share an audiogram or export your history as a PDF, the app uses the system share sheet to send that information to the destination you choose. We do not receive this information.

Microphone and Audio Privacy

  • No Microphone Access: HearTest does not use your microphone. There is no audio recording, speech recognition, or audio input of any kind.

  • Audio Output Only: The app only uses audio output to play pure-tone signals through your headphones for testing purposes.

Accounts, Tracking, and Ads

  • No Accounts: You do not need to create an account or log in to use HearTest.

  • No Third-Party SDKs: HearTest does not use third-party analytics or tracking SDKs.

  • No Ads: The app is entirely ad-free.

Diagnostics & Crash Reports

We do not use third-party crash reporting services. HearTest may use Apple's MetricKit for on-device diagnostics. If you have opted in to share analytics with developers within your iOS settings, Apple may provide us with aggregated, non-identifying diagnostic information and crash logs.

Payments

HearTest offers an optional "Pro" subscription or lifetime purchase to unlock features like full test history, trend analysis, and iCloud sync.

  • Purchases are processed securely by Apple.

  • We do not receive or store your credit card or payment details.

  • Apple may provide us with aggregated, anonymous sales reports that do not identify individual users.

When You Contact Us

If you email contact@techy.how for support, we will process the information you provide (such as your email address and message) solely to assist you. We retain these communications only as long as necessary to resolve your request.

Your Rights (EU/EEA)

Under the GDPR, if you contact us and share personal data, you have the right to:

  • Access, correct, delete, or restrict the processing of your data.

  • Request data portability.

  • Object to processing.

  • Lodge a complaint with a data protection authority (such as the CNPD in Luxembourg).

Children’s Privacy

HearTest does not contain user-generated social content, tracking, or ads. It is suitable for a general audience.

Security

The app is designed to run offline and store all data locally on your device. Because your data remains on your device or in your personal iCloud storage, the security of your hearing information is protected by iOS system security.

International Transfers

We do not operate cloud services for this app and do not transfer your app data internationally. Email support communications may be processed by our service providers to facilitate our response to you.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this policy to reflect changes in the app or legal requirements. The "Effective Date" at the top of this document will be updated accordingly.
