Privacy Policy – FlightPing: Flight Alerts

Who we are

techy.how publishes the iOS and iPadOS app FlightPing.

What the app does

FlightPing helps users track a flight by entering a flight number and date. The app checks for important flight changes such as delays, gate changes, cancellations, boarding reminders, and arrival status, then notifies the user when something changes.

Data we collect from the app

We collect as little data as possible.

On-device data

Tracked flights and app preferences are stored locally on your iPhone or iPad.

This may include:

  • flight number

  • flight date

  • last known flight status

  • last known gate information

  • delay information

  • notification preferences

  • polling schedule

  • status history for tracked flights

This information is stored on-device using local app storage. We do not use accounts or user profiles.

Data sent to our proxy service

To check flight status, the app sends the flight number and date you enter to our secure backend proxy service, which then requests flight data from our flight data provider.

This is necessary for the app to work.

The app does not send your name, email address, contacts, photos, or other personal content as part of normal use.

No account required

You do not need to create an account, sign in, or provide a password to use FlightPing.

Flight data provider and backend proxy

FlightPing uses a backend proxy service to securely request flight information from a third-party flight data provider.

The backend proxy is used so that API credentials are not stored in the app itself.

We do not use the flight data you enter to identify you personally. We use it only to provide flight tracking and notification features inside the app.

Notifications

FlightPing uses local notifications on your device to alert you about changes to tracked flights, such as:

  • delays

  • gate changes

  • cancellations

  • boarding reminders

  • landed status

Notification choices are stored on your device.
If you disable notifications in iOS settings, the app may not be able to alert you properly.

Accounts, tracking, and ads

  • No accounts or logins

  • No third-party advertising SDKs

  • No analytics or tracking for advertising

  • No ads

Diagnostics & crash reports

If you choose to share analytics with developers in your Apple device settings, Apple may provide us with aggregated crash information and diagnostics. These reports do not directly identify you.

Payments

FlightPing offers optional in-app purchases to unlock premium features.

Purchases are processed securely by Apple.

We do not receive your full payment details.

Apple may provide us with aggregated sales and subscription reports that do not directly identify you.

When you contact us

If you email contact@techy.how, we will process the information you provide, such as your email address and message, in order to respond to you.

We keep these communications only as long as needed to handle your request.

Your rights (EU/EEA)

If you contact us and share personal data, you may have the right to request:

  • access to your data

  • correction of your data

  • deletion of your data

  • restriction of processing

  • data portability

  • objection to processing

You also have the right to lodge a complaint with your local data protection authority. In Luxembourg, this is the CNPD.

Children’s privacy

The app has no social features, no user-generated public content, and no advertising. It is suitable for general audiences.

Security

We take reasonable steps to protect the limited data involved in operating the app.

Most app data is stored locally on your device. Flight lookup requests are sent through our backend proxy only to provide the core flight tracking service.

If you email us, we also take reasonable steps to protect those communications.

International transfers

The app may use infrastructure or service providers that process flight lookup requests outside your country, depending on where the backend proxy or flight data provider operates.

If you contact us by email, email delivery may also involve processing by our email provider in other countries.

Where required, we rely on appropriate safeguards for such transfers.

Data retention

Tracked flights and related preferences remain on your device until you delete them, remove the app, or the app clears old flight data automatically.

Temporary server-side processing may occur when handling flight status requests, but we aim to keep retained data to a minimum and only for as long as needed to operate and secure the service.

Changes to this policy

We may update this Privacy Policy from time to time to reflect changes to the app or legal requirements. We will update the Effective date above when we do.
